ABC RadioKacey Musgraves‘ new exhibit, titled All of the Colors, officially opens Tuesday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. Monday evening, Kacey previewed the display for a select group of Nashville insiders.

The collection features an elaborate array of her fashions through the years, plus song manuscripts, and even some evidence of her getting in trouble in high school. But the Texas native says she’s happy for you to see that, too.

“I really am, I’m very proud of my story and where I am right now,” Kacey told the crowd gathered in the Hall’s rotunda. “And even the detention slips that are in there.”

“I made sure those were in there: insubordination, lots of talking,” she added, with a smile. “Some awkward hair choices as well.”

Kacey confesses there is one item missing from the exhibit, though.

“There is one thing that they wouldn’t let me put in here,” she explained. “It’s in my personal collection.”

“Willie Nelson gave it to me,” she added, as the crowd erupted in knowing laughter. “But, you know. I tried to tell ’em, it ain’t gonna get more country than that.”

Kacey Musgraves: All of the Colors is set to run through June 7 of next year.

Saturday at 2 p.m. CT, Kacey will take part in a discussion in the Hall’s CMA Theater. You can find out more at CountryMusicHallofFame.org.
