A fire early Tuesday morning has destroyed a popular restaurant in Melbourne. Melbourne Fire Chief Rusty Campbell told KAIT crews were called out at 5:42 to Tally Ho in the 3300 block of East Main Street.

Campbell says when they arrived, heavy fire and smoke were coming from the building.

Firefighters from Zion and Mount Pleasant assisted Melbourne in battling the blaze.

Chief Campbell says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation. It’s believed the fire started near the music stage.

It took firefighters nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control.
