Daly, Roberson win Chuck Morton Junior Memorial

The Arkansas State Golf Association’s annual Chuck Morton Junior Memorial wrapped up Friday at Big Creek Golf and Country Club.

John Daly of Clearwater, Florida, ended up as the boys’ overall winner as he led the 14-to-15-year-old boys with an 11-under-par 133. Among the area residents in the age group, Rip Finley of Mountain Home finished seventh, Nicholas Thiel of Harrison took 13th place, and Mountain Home residents Duncan Conly and Kason Adkins were 16th and 17th respectively.

The 16-to-18 boys’ division’s leaderboard ended up with a three-way tie at the top with a six-under-par 138. Palmer McSpadden of Fayetteville won the tiebreaker over Jonesboro residents Devyn Pappas and Ben Sherman. Landon Rothgeb of West Plains was the top area golfer in the group in 20th place, Weston Hoover of Mountain Home finished 29th, and Mountain Home residents Gaige Chaney, William Knox and Zach Willingham ended up 31st, 32nd and 33rd respectively.

A Hot Springs resident won the boys’ 12-to-13 age group. Will Gordon’s two-day total was 150.

Hudson Lindsey of Flippin was the 10-to-11-year-old boys’ winner with an 84. Mountain Home’s Jack Coleman ended up second with a 105.

The top overall golfer on the girls’ side was Josie Roberson of Maumelle as she led the 16-to-18 girls with an eight-under-par 136. Among the Mountain Home residents in the age group, Sydney Czanstkowski took fourth place, and Mary Beth Rogero was seventh.

Grace Kelcrease of Springdale won the girls’ 14-to-15 division with a two-day mark of 153. Madelyn Smith beat fellow Mountain Home resident Ella Brashears in a tie for fifth place.

Abby Edens of Mountain Home took the girls’ 10-to-11 age group. Edens ended up with a 100.
