A woman caught up in the search for her boyfriend entered a guilty plea to drug-related charges and was put on probation for six years during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last week. The trouble for 34-year-old Jolynn Mandel began when a Mountain Home police officer spotted her walking in the yard of a residence along South Street in mid-February. A policeman was searching for 32-year-old Sean Rice and believed he was at the South Street address. When he spoke to Mandel, she confirmed Rice was inside the house asleep.

The officer made contact with Rice inside the residence and placed him in custody on a felony warrant. According to the probable cause affidavit, Rice was asked which room he shared with Mandel, and he pointed to a bedroom at the end of the hallway. When the room was searched, the officer found methamphetamine and items of paraphernalia used to ingest the drug.

Mandel was also taken into custody.

Rice’s two cases remain open. He is scheduled to reappear in both cases on August 8.
