Three Missouri residents were killed in a two-vehicle accident late Friday afternoon in Ozark County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Danial Klessig of Gainesville and 57-year-old Paul Cowherd of Higginsville were pronounced dead at the scene 11 miles north of Gainesville, and 52-year-old Marti Cowherd died Friday evening at Baxter Regional Medical Center.
Klessig was traveling on Missouri Highway 5. His SUV reportedly crossed the centerline and caused a head-on collision with a pickup truck driven by Paul Cowherd and occupied by Marti Cowherd. According to the Highway Patrol, Troop G has now reported 17 fatalities this year compared to 22 at the same time in 2018.
Both vehicles were totaled in the 4:56 p.m. accident.
