MC man dies after vehicle plunges off bridge

A one-vehicle accident in Independence County Wednesday evening has claimed the life of a man WhiteRiverNow has identified being from Marion County.

The accident reportedly occurred when the vehicle 56-year-old Bryan David Vonalt of Yellville was driving rolled off a bridge.

A social media posting from the Batesville Fire Department notes first responders found an overturned vehicle on railroad tracks below the bridge.

WhiteRiverNow reports Vonalt apparently lost control of his vehicle near the Miller Creek Bridge on East Main Street in Batesville. His vehicle struck a sign and became airborne, flipping multiple times down an embankment before coming to rest partially on the railroad tracks.

Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill says firemen used their extrication equipment to remove the driver of the vehicle. He was transported for emergency care, but reportedly died during surgery.
