Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery is notifying the public a Level 3 sex offender, 39-year-old Rion Christopher Daniel, has registered with his office. Daniel is residing at 621 Main Street, Apt. 219 in the Brass Door Motel at Gassville. Sheriff Montgomery says Level 3 sex offenders are at high risk to re-offend.Daniel was convicted in 1995 of kidnapping and rape. The offenses involved Daniel restraining a 21-year-old female and forcing her to engage in repeated sexual activity.
Daniel is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
