Over 400 youth participate in library summer reading

Folks with the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County say their summer reading program has been a success, with more than 400 youth participating.

The Summer of Space/Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program has wrapped, with youth of all ages have beat the “summer slide” by keeping their reading skills intact for the upcoming school year. Participants read a total of 4,700 hours during the summer reading program.

On July 26, the participants of the Teen Summer Reading Program attended their completion party enjoying games, door prizes and the announcement of raffle winners. Ninety-one teens participated in the summer reading program for a total of 2,714 hours read.

On July 27, children and tweens celebrated the end of the summer reading program with parties and prizes as well. Two hundred-thirty children and 78 tweens participated this summer, with a total of 1,986 hours read.
