A Cotter man entered a guilty plea to drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and was put on probation for six years.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, a tip led Cotter Police officers to obtain a search warrant for the residence of 30-year-old Eric Wade Vela along Harding Boulevard.

Information relayed to the police was that Vela had methamphetamine, marijuana and possibly other controlled substances in his home.

The warrant was served Oct. 23 last year. Cotter Police officers identified Vela by way of a Texas driver’s license, and he was told the officers had a search warrant for his home.

Vela is reported to have said he had some “weed” in a drawer. Officers found about 2.3 grams of methamphetamine and 13 grams of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia, including a marijuana grinder and a smoking pipe used to ingest marijuana in the residence.
