A Baxter County man is in the Ozark County jail after an argument over drugs led to an alleged shooting and sexual assault incident. Thirty-nine-year-old Parhaam Ali Akhavi of Clarkridge is facing multiple felonies.

According to an incident report, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office received a call Tuesday from Baxter Regional Medical Center of a male subject claiming he was sexually assaulted. A deputy met with the victim who stated he was driving on County Road 37 and turned onto a gravel road. He says he drove past a sign reading “County Maintenance Ends” and wrecked his car.

The victim claims he was later approached and accused by Akhavi of stealing prescription drugs. Akhavi allegedly assaulted the victim, took his prescriptions and injected him in the stomach with an unknown drug. The victim states he escaped and was running as the suspect shot at him, but he later succumbed to the drug.

The victim says he awoke naked Tuesday morning experiencing bodily soreness, and his prescription pill bottles were laying around him. He walked to an abandoned house and picked up a hammer for defense. He adds he spotted an unknown male who helped him but didn’t want to get involved. It is undetermined how he arrived at the hospital.

A follow-up investigation was conducted Wednesday, and it was determined Akhavi was involved in an incident on County Road 467. Investigators went to a residence in the area, and the homeowner stated he saw two males in the roadway Monday night. He said the two men were retrieving a motorcycle that was wrecked in front of his residence on Saturday.

A Baxter County investigator contacted an Ozark County deputy to ask if anyone in his office had seen the victim’s vehicle. The deputy said he knew a trooper had checked on a vehicle in the area. Investigators drove to County Road 467 and located the vehicle just north of the state line. The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the location of the vehicle. It was determined the incident occurred in Ozark County, and all information was turned over to the Ozark County authorities.

Akhavi is charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a firearm, armed criminal action and possession of a weapon by a restricted person. No bond has been set.
