A Fulton County man, 20-year-old Jerry Robert Morris of Salem, has been charged with three counts of rape.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, Morris’ arrest and the charges follow Salem Police being contacted by the parents of the alleged 13-year-old female victim Aug. 2.

The victim was transported to the Children’s Advocacy Center in Batesville for a forensic interview, where she reportedly disclosed having had consensual sexual relations with Morris on three occasions.

In an interview with Salem Police Aug. 10, Morris allegedly admitted knowing the 13-year-old, but denied having any relationship with her.

Shortly after midnight, Morris allegedly texted an officer with the Salem Police Department, admitting to having had intercourse with the victim on one occasion.

The following day, police report the Salem man drove behind the police department, called the interviewing officer over to his vehicle and handed him a handwritten note, saying he wanted to tell the truth. In the note, he reportedly admitted again to having had intercourse with the 13-year-old once.

Morris’ bond has been set at $20,000, and he is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
