A Marion County man, 32-year-old Thomas “Tommy” Hutson of Bull Shoals, is facing fleeing charges after he was pursed by law enforcement and an officer was injured in the chase.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, the Bull Shoals Police Department received a tip on June 10 a fugitive, later identified as Hutson, was living at his father’s residence along Shorecrest Drive.

The caller advised Hutson was wanted on three active arrest warrants for failure to appear out of Flippin and Marion County.

As Bull Shoals and Lakeview police officers traveled down Mockingbird Lane approaching the residence, Hutson was observed reportedly fleeing on foot.

The Bull Shoals officer exited his patrol unit and shouted for Hutson to stop. A foot pursuit ensued into a rocky, wooded area.

During the pursuit, the officer lost his footing in the treacherous terrain, falling on rocks and boulders. In the fall, he sustained several abrasions and cuts to both forearms and knees, as well as injuries to his right ankle and shoulder.

Because of the fall, Hutson was able to escape, despite numerous jurisdictions responding to assist in the search.

The Bull Shoals officer received medical attention at a Mountain Home provider and was off duty for an unspecified amount of time, as a result of his injuries.

Hutson was charged with both felony and misdemeanor fleeing counts. Online jail records indicate he was booked into the Marion County Detention Center Sunday afternoon and was released about three hours later, after posting a $2,800 bond.
