A Baxter County woman, 24-year-old Elaina Mae Holcomb of Mountain Home, has been arrested and charged in Marion County in connection with an incident in which she allegedly stole a vehicle, grabbed a boy at a residence and fled.
Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans says his office received a 911 call from a residence along County Road 6084 in the rural Caney area regarding a missing boy.
Deputies responded to the address and immediately began searching for the child. A short time later, an employee with the National Park Service heard banging on the front door of the ranger station, where she made contact with Holcomb and a juvenile male. Officers responded to the station, took Holcomb into custody and returned the child to his father.

During a post Miranda interview at the sheriff’s office, Evans says Holcomb admitted to stealing a vehicle from a residence in Mountain Home and driving to the Marion County residence, where she allegedly grabbed the boy, ran to her car with him and drove away.Evans says Holcomb also admitted to intentionally driving the vehicle into the woods with the child in the car in an attempt to hide.

Sheriff Evans told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news, Holcomb and the boy are not related. However, she and the boy’s father reportedly had a prior short relationship.

Holcomb’s bond set at $50,000 for the initial felony charges of kidnapping, second-degree false imprisonment and breaking or entering, as well as a second-degree misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.

The charges were later amended to exclude the false imprisonment charge, with the breaking or entering amended to residential burglary.
