A last-minute plea was entered Monday morning before a scheduled Marion County Circuit Court jury trial got underway.

Online court records indicate 39-year-old Michael Mills of Summit entered a plea of no contest to felony charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member and terroristic threatening.

The charges stem from an incident last December in which Mills was reportedly drunk when he slapped another man three times on the side of the head at a residence along North Pike Street in Summit.

Mills then went to his bedroom to retrieve his gun, which he then fired in a bedroom by the left side of the head of his girlfriend’s adult daughter. He then shoved the .9mm weapon in the woman’s face saying he was going to kill the four adults in the residence.

After shoving the weapon in the woman’s face, he reportedly followed her to her room, kicking the door, with it striking her in the back.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Mills was sentenced to four years probation. He was sentenced under the provisions of Act 346, meaning if he stays out of trouble during his probation period, he can apply to the court to have his records sealed.

Mills was represented by Yellville attorney Ben Gibson.
