The Mountain Home High School football team played its pre-season benefit game Thursday night at home against Highland, and head coach Bryan Mattox says he was pleased with his team’s performance.

Mountain Home only had three possessions in the varsity half of the scrimmage. Mattox says he liked what he saw on that side of the ball, other than two turnovers.

That score meant the varsity won their half of action 7-6.

Defensively, Mattox says it wasn’t a normal defense to play against what Highland does offensively, but that was by design.

In the second half, when the JV teams saw playing time, Mountain Home outscored the Rebels 14-0.

The Bombers open the season next Friday night against Sheridan at Arkansas Tech in Russellville.
