A Marion County man, 32-year-old Thomas “Tommy” Hutson of Bull Shoals, is back in the Marion County Detention Center on new charges, just five days after he was released.

According to the latest probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday, Hutson is charged with felony counts of aggravated robbery and domestic battery, along with misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and interference with emergency communication.

The charges stem from an incident Aug. 14 in which Hutson is alleged to have assaulted his father at the home they share along Shorecrest Drive in Bull Shoals. Paramedics transported Hutson’s father to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment of the injuries he sustained.

Bull Shoals Police Chief James Kuchenbecker reported meeting with the victim at BRMC and observing bruising over his face, arms and back. He also noted a laceration on the top of his head consistent with being struck with a blunt object.

The victim said he and his son had completed yard work and had a few alcoholic beverages the prior day.

That evening, the victim noticed Hutson’s puppy had chewed up some VA paperwork, leading the two men to argue.

During the altercation that followed, Hutson allegedly grabbed his father around the throat, while choking him and pinning him to the wall. The two continued to fight. Hutson reportedly broke his father’s cellphone preventing him from calling law enforcement, drug him to the bathroom and locked him inside.

The victim was able to free himself and retrieved his .357 handgun for protection. He attempted to flee the residence, but was attacked again in the driveway, with Hutson taking the firearm and returning inside the residence, allowing the victim to flee.

Hutson was booked into the Marion County jail Aug. 15 on a $50,000 bond.

He had been booked and released from the same jail just four days prior on fleeing charges stemming from an incident in June, after he was pursed by law enforcement.

According to the probable cause affidavit in that case, the pursuit ensued when officers from the the Bull Shoals and Lakeview police departments attempted to arrest him on warrants for failure to appear.

During the pursuit, the Bull Shoals officer lost his footing in treacherous terrain, falling on rocks and boulders. In the fall, he sustained several abrasions and cuts to both forearms and knees, as well as injuries to his right ankle and shoulder.

Because of the fall, Hutson was able to escape, despite numerous jurisdictions responding to assist in the search.

The Bull Shoals officer received medical attention at a Mountain Home provider and was off duty for an unspecified amount of time, as a result of his injuries.
