Twin Lakes Area inches closer to rainfall record for August

As the end of August draws nearer, the Twin Lakes Area is inching closer to the rainfall record for the month. At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting stations for Mountain Home for the National Weather Service, the record was broken for Aug. 25 with 1.99 inches of rain hitting the ground. The previous record for the day was 1.22 inches.

With just a few days remaining in August, 8.53 inches of rain have been recorded for the month. The wettest August on record was in 1942 when 8.62 inches of rain fell. The average rainfall for the month is 2.59 inches.

For the year today, 52.15 inches of rain have fallen. The average through the first eight months of the year is 28.51, meaning we are 23.64 inches ahead of normal. August will be the sixth month this year for the Twin Lakes Area to finish with above average rainfall.
