vPhil Lesh is being forced to sit out some dates this fall, after announcing he needs back surgery.
On his Facebook page Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Grateful Dead co-founder said, “Phil needs to have a minor back surgery [and] he will need some time to rest and rehabilitate.”

The spokesperson added that Phil is expected to make “a full and complete recovery,” and “looks forward to performing and doing what he loves most for everyone very soon.”
Here are the dates Phil Lesh is canceling:
9/6 — Accord, NY, Dirt Farmers Festival
9/7 — Saratoga Springs, NY, Outlaw Music Festival
9/8 — Darien Center, NY, Darien Lake Amphitheater
