WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (AP) – Authorities say a road construction worker holding a traffic control sign was struck and killed by a vehicle in northeastern Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police say 37-year-old Brendon Walters of Paragould was killed Thursday morning after being hit in a construction zone on Highway 412 near Walnut Ridge.

Arkansas Department of Transportation spokesman Danny Straessle says Walters was working for a subcontractor at the construction site where the highway is being repaved.

A state police report says the weather was clear at the time of the crash. The name of the driver of the vehicle was not immediately released.
