For the second year in a row, Arkansas State’s football season will start in front of the home crowd. The Red Wolves are set to welcome SMU to Jonesboro.

A-State ended the 2018 season at 8-5 after suffering a three-point overtime loss to Nevada in the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl in Tuscon. The Red Wolves will begin this year with defensive coordinator David Duggan serving as the interim head coach. Blake Anderson is taking a leave of absence following the passing of his wife Wendy.

SMU is a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Mustangs’ record last season was 5-7.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. Arkansas State fell to SMU 44-21 two years ago in Dallas.

Kickoff at Centennial Bank Stadium is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. The broadcast begins at 4 with the Midsouth Ford Dealers Tailgate Show.
