With the 2019 edition of Eric Clapton‘s star-studded Crossroads Guitar Festival taking place later this month, Slowhand has launched an auction to raise more money for his Crossroads Centre Antigua drug and alcohol treatment facility.
Clapton has donated two of his own guitars to the sale: a #3 prototype of the new limited-edition reissue of his 1964 Gibson Firebird model, and a 50th Anniversary Blind Faith Fender Telecaster. The first instrument is based on the 1964 Firebird I guitar that Clapton used frequently during the 1960s and ’70s, while the second is a replica of the guitar Eric played with Blind Faith at the band’s famous June 7, 1969, concert in London’s Hyde Park.
Also available at the auction will be merchandise signed by various artists who’ll perform at this year’s Crossroads Guitar Festival.

As previously reported, the 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival will be held September 20 and 21 at American Airlines Center in Dallas. The event will feature Clapton performing on both dates, along with a lineup that includes Billy Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh, Jeff Beck, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, Albert Lee, Gary Clark Jr., Jonny Lang, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Robert Randolph, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Vince Gill.
Proceeds from the festival also will benefit Crossroads Centre Antigua.
