One of the oldest rivalries in northern Arkansas was renewed Friday night at Bomber Stadium as Mountain Home hosted Harrison. Brad Haworth has the details on the lopsided outcome.
Listen:
It took Harrison only eight plays to score four touchdowns to begin the game and the Goblins cruised to a 42-9 win over Mountain Home.
The high-scoring Goblin offense took the opening kickoff and went 55 yards in four plays with Gabe Huskey scoring from 40 yards out to give Harrison their first points just 1:42 into the game.
After a mishandled snap on a punt gave Harrison the ball at the Mountain Home six yard line, Huskey needed just one play to score.
On their next possession, Huskey also scored on the first play, a 67 yard run which gave the senior running back 119 yards and three touchdowns on just four carries.
Ben Johnson hooked up with Colton Shaver on a 28 yard touchdown pass and then hit Collin Ballard with a 50 yard scoring strike to make it 35-0 at halftime.
Harrison amassed 335 yards of total offense in the first half.
Harrison’s final score came in the 3rd quarter on a 3-yard run by Ballard.
Mountain Home was able to get on the board when Gage Hershberger capped a 10-play, 65-yard drive, with a 19-yard touchdown run.
Carlos Cardenas added a 27-yard field goal late to round out the scoring for Mountain Home.
Hershberger finished the game with 94 yards rushing.
Harrison improves to 2-0 on the season, while the Bombers fall to 0-2. Mountain Home will travel to Jonesboro next Friday night to face Nettleton.
