While the band’s surviving core members got back together for a 50th anniversary tour in 2012, singer Mike Love — who fronts the current version of the group — has been at odds with his ex-band mates Brian Wilson and Al Jardine since he decided not to extend the reunion trek beyond its initially announced end date.

However, Love tells ABC Radio that he would be open to another reunion tour to mark The Beach Boys’ 60th anniversary, although he feels it would depend on the health of Wilson, who recently postponed a series solo concerts to address some mental health issues.

“[I]f the opportunity presented itself, and people were in good health and a good frame of mind, then of course there’s no prohibition about doing anything,” the 78-year-old singer maintains. “You know, as long as you have your health and ability to do what you’re known to have done.”

Love adds, “If Brian is able to, then of course,” while noting, “I hate to see him in bad shape, because [he’s] my first cousin and we did such great things together and stuff.”

Mike’s concerns about Brian don’t extend to Jardine, whom he says is “probably ready to go.” Love also suggests that Jardine’s son Matt could have a role in a Beach Boys reunion trek, pointing out that he “sings the high parts that Brian used to sing.”

It must be said, Wilson has recovered enough from his recent issues to return to the road with his solo band, which includes Al and Matt Jardine. They’re currently touring with The Zombies.
