BMGRolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is paying homage to late rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Chuck Berry with a new concert album titled Mad Lad: A Live Tribute to Chuck Berry, which will be released on November 15.

The album, which is credited to Ronnie Wood and His Wild Five, was recorded in November 2018 at the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne, U.K. The 11-track collection features renditions of 10 tunes written and/or recorded by Berry, plus a Wood original titled “Tribute to Chuck Berry.”

Ronnie was joined on several tunes by acclaimed Irish singer/songwriter Imelda May and British pianist Ben Waters, who also played with Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts‘ side group The ABC and D of Boogie Woogie.

The album will be available in several configurations and formats, including digitally, on CD, on heavyweight vinyl and as a super-deluxe box set featuring the CD, the LP and a limited-edition print of the Wood-created cover art, a t-shirt and a signed and numbered set list.

Fans who pre-order the record will receive a free instant download of one track, “Talking About You.”

Mad Lad is the first of three tribute albums that Wood is planning to release in the coming years, saluting some of his biggest musical heroes. He chose Berry first because he’s a lifelong fan, because he had the opportunity to tour with Chuck, and in honor of Berry’s 2017 passing at the age of 90.

Shortly after the album’s release, Ronnie will play a show with his solo band at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London on November 21.

Meanwhile, as previously reported, a Mike Figgis-directed documentary about Wood titled Somebody Up There Likes Me will premiere October 12 at the London Film Festival.
