UMeOn the same day that The Who announced details of a brand-new studio album, another British rock legend has followed suit. Ringo Starr has revealed plans to release a new solo record titled What’s My Name on October 25.

The former Beatles drummer produced the 10-track collection at his home studio with a little help from some famous musical friends: Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter, Dave Stewart, Benmont Tench and his current All Starr Band members Steve Lukather, Colin Hay and Warren Ham.

Ringo co-wrote six tracks on the album, which also features covers of the John Lennon song “Grow Old with Me” and the Motown classic “Money (That’s What I Want),” the latter of which The Beatles also recorded back in 1963.

McCartney contributes bass and backing vocals to Starr’s version of “Grow Old with Me,” which was one of the last songs Lennon wrote. The track features string arrangements by Jack Douglas, who produced Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s Double Fantasy album.

What’s My Name‘s title track was written by Hay, the Men at Work frontman who recently rejoined the All Starr Band after a couple of previous stints with Ringo’s group. The song was inspired by Ringo himself and a chant that fans shout at his concerts.

“What’s My Name” is available now as a digital single and via streaming services, and fans pre-ordering the album will receive an instant free download of the track.

Among the songs Ringo co-wrote are the lead track, “Gotta Get Up to Get Down,” “It’s Not Love That You Want” and “Magic,” co-penned, respectively, by Walsh, Stewart and Lukather.

What’s My Name is available on CD, as a vinyl LP and digitally.
