The two-day festival, which was scheduled to take place September 28 and 29 in Huntington Beach, California, has been canceled because organizers were denied the necessary permit by the California State Parks department, a message on the event’s official website reports.

The note also says “there is no possibility to relocate the event.” Ticket holders can secure refunds through the festival’s official ticketing outlets — Front Gate Tickets and GroupOn.

Hagar has posted a video on his official website and social media sites apologizing for the cancellation and promising to play a series of free concerts in the coming months.

“All I can say is I’m sorry,” the Red Rocker declares in the clip. “I’m more disappointed than anyone, I think. All the fans know how much I care about them, how much I care about my parties and my music and everything that I do.”

Hagar goes on to announce plans for a free October 8 show with his backing group The Wabos in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

In addition, he says he’s hoping to play more free shows around the U.S. next year with his current band The Circle, and “even maybe something this year,” as well as some free pop-up concerts in smalls clubs. He adds that he’d “love to do a big giant one on the beach,” as well.

This year’s High Tide Beach Party was to have featured performances by Hagar and The Circle, along with ex-Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora as a special guest, as well as The Beach Boys, KC and the Sunshine Band, Blue Öyster Cult, ex-Outfield frontman Tony Lewis, Mötley Crüe‘s Vince Neil, Night Ranger, Extreme and Patty Smyth and Scandal.
