Credit: Russ HarringtonThe Stray Cats have debuted an official video for “Desperado,” an instrumental that’s the latest track released from their new studio album, 40.

The clip for the surf-rock-inspired tune, which you can watch at The Stray Cats’ official YouTube channel, features footage from various old spaghetti Western movies and beach films, as well as grainy home movies of surfers riding the waves.

“Reverb and tape delay — I love those two sounds,” says frontman Brian Setzer about “Desperado.” “I was thinking of a Clint Eastwood movie. He’s in the desert waiting for someone to come over that he could shoot.”

The Stray Cats recently wrapped up a reunion tour in support of 40, which the band recorded in celebration of its 40th anniversary.

In related news, a pair of holiday albums by Setzer’s big-band side project, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, will be reissued on colored vinyl on November 8.

2002’s Boogie Woogie Christmas will be available on green-and-white-splatter vinyl, while 2005’s Dig That Crazy Christmas will be released on red-and-white-splatter vinyl. The latter album will be making its vinyl debut.

Both collections feature a mix of vintage Christmas tunes and new, original holiday songs.

The reissues will arrive just in time for The Brian Setzer Orchestra’s 16th annual Christmas Rocks! tour, which will visit more than 20 U.S. cities, from a November 15 concert in Minneapolis through a December 21 show in Los Angeles.
