LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP)   Arkansas authorities say a man convicted of murder was found dead in his prison cell from an apparent suicide.

The Arkansas Department of Correction says 22-year-old Colton Harvey was found dead Thursday afternoon at the Varner Supermax unit. A spokeswoman says correctional staff had checked on Harvey at 4:54 p.m., and he gave no indication of his intentions. He was found hanging in his cell at 5:28 p.m.

Harvey was convicted in June 2012 of second degree murder and was serving a 48 year sentence out of Franklin County. He was sentenced in November in Lincoln County to an additional three years for second degree battery after he was convicted of using a metal shank to stab a Varner correctional officer in the head and face.
