A Cotter woman is dead following an officer-involved shooting incident Sunday night in Howell County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, investigators from the Division of Drug and Crime Control are assisting the Mountain View, Missouri, Police Department with the investigation into the death of 38-year-old Angela Perkins.
A Mountain View officer initiated a pursuit around 11:30 Sunday night with a vehicle in the city. The officer reportedly lost sight of the vehicle but later located it in a ditch on Howell County Road 3080 west of Mountain View.
The officer approached the vehicle on foot and contacted the driver. The driver then reportedly backed the vehicle out of the ditch, into a private drive, and sped toward the officer. He discharged his duty weapon and fatally wounded the driver, later identified as Perkins.
The investigation is ongoing.
