Credit: Barry BerensonHot Tuna, the psychedelic folk-blues duo featuring original Jefferson Airplane guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady, has been celebrating the 50th anniversary of its formation throughout 2019, and the group has announced a run of shows to wind down the year.

The first few shows on their upcoming schedule will feature Hot Tuna playing with its electric lineup — Kaukonen, Casady and drummer Justin Guip. These events include an October 5 appearance at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco, and a November 29-30 stand at The Town Hall in New York City. The New York shows also will feature RatDog guitarist Steve Kimock.

Starting on December 2 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and running through a December 15 concert in Milwaukee, Hot Tuna will play a series of 11 acoustic shows that will feature Kaukonen and Casady joined by opening act Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams.

Hot Tuna will finish its 2019 itinerary with a December 28 acoustic duo concert in Clearwater, Florida, and a New Year’s Eve gig in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with their electric lineup.
