William Snyder/TrinifoldThe Who‘s Pete Townshend has apparently let slip some exciting news about the band’s touring plans for 2020, announcing that the rock legends are slated to perform at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival next year.
In a video posted on his Instagram late last week in which he was discussing the three concerts The Who had to postpone because of frontman Roger Daltrey getting sick, Townshend says, “We’re doing the New Orleans Jazz Festival, I believe, and we’ll probably come straight in to Dallas and Houston, and up to Denver to replace those shows.”
Pete notes that the makeup shows probably will take place in April or May, and also reveals that Daltrey had come down with a case of bronchitis, while adding that the singer “is getting better already.”
The guitarist also apologized to fans for the postponements, saying, “Sorry, for anybody that’s really gonna be put out. I know it’s not just about the tickets, it’s about all kinds of other stuff: making arrangements with family, and…babysitters, if you happen to have children…So listen, I’m sorry again, but we will be back and we will fulfill those dates.”
As previously reported, Daltrey’s health issues forced The Who to cut short their concert last Wednesday in Houston after about 50 minutes, and they subsequently postponed their shows in Dallas and Denver, respectively, on Friday and Sunday.
The Who’s next scheduled show is October 9 in San Francisco, and the current North American leg of the band’s Moving On! Tour is plotted out through an October 24 concert in Los Angeles. The group’s first new studio album in 13 years, WHO, will be released on November 22.
