A man is accused of having inappropriate contact with a pair of juveniles and giving them drugs in Izard County. Nineteen-year-old Blake Yates, whose address is not listed, faces a felony count of sexual indecency with a child and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the probable cause affidavit, an Izard County deputy took a report Sept. 24 from a female saying her daughter and her daughter’s friend, both juveniles, had recently sneaked out and met with Yates at a fast food restaurant in Melbourne. The complainant claims the trio traveled to another location on a dark, secluded secondary road. She accused Yates of having sexual intercourse with both juveniles and giving them drugs in the early morning hours of Sept. 22.

The deputy then spoke with the complainant’s daughter. The juvenile claimed she had consensual intercourse with Yates, but she later felt bad about it and decided to tell her mother.

The next afternoon, the complainant’s daughter met with an Izard County investigator and a Crimes Against Children Division officer and further backed up her mother’s claim. She said in addition to the inappropriate contact, Yates presented a smoking device containing marijuana and Xanax pills. She stated she and Yates both consumed the drugs.

The other juvenile later provided a written and verbal report. She reportedly confirmed her friend’s account that both juveniles participated in intercourse with Yates, and he and her friend consumed the illegal drugs.

Yates’ bond has been set at $5,000.
