BRUNSWICK, Mo. (AP) – A logjam has washed away a Missouri railroad bridge after heavy rain caused the Grand River to rise.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge at
Brunswick washed away Tuesday night. The city’s emergency management director, Brent Dickerson, says railroad crews were out working to remove floating debris from along the bridge when it gave way. Brunswick is located about 55 miles (88.5 kilometers) northwest of Columbia.
The Grand River rose 20 feet on Sunday at Sumner and more than 5 feet at
Brunswick following heavy rains Saturday. Norfolk Southern posted an advisory on its website that train service had been suspended between Moberly and Kansas City.
