MH to host Pine Bluff for 1st conference home game

High school football makes up much of the Friday schedule, as Mountain Home will have its first home game of conference play. The Bombers are set to welcome Pine Bluff to the Twin Lakes Area.

Mountain Home is currently 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the 6A-East. The Bombers started league action last week, with a loss at Jonesboro. Pine Bluff is 1-3 and 1-0. The Zebras picked up their first win of the season last Friday over Sylvan Hills.

Mountain Home head coach Bryan Mattox says after this week of preparations, he is looking forward to this matchup.

Kickoff at Bomber Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins around 5:30, with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday.

Elsewhere in the 6A-East, Searcy hosts West Memphis, Jonesboro entertains Jacksonville and Sylvan Hills is home against Marion.

Yellville-Summit will be on the road for the first time since conference play began. The Panthers will be in Searcy to meet Harding Academy.

Yellville-Summit is 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in the 3A-2. The Panthers’ conference opener was a week ago when they lost at home to Melbourne.

Harding Academy is ranked fifth in Class 3A by the Arkansas Sports Media. The Wildcats are 4-0 and 1-0 as they are coming off at 13-point win over Clinton.
Kickoff at First Security Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

Also in the 3A-2, Melbourne travels to Clinton, Marshall hosts Cedar Ridge for Homecoming and Mountain View entertains Rose Bud for Homecoming.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Salem is home against Rector for its 2A-3 opener and Harrison makes the trip to Clarksville. The Goblins are the top-ranked team in Class 5A and tied for sixth overall in the state.

Two games will pair teams ranked in the Arkansas Sports Media top 10. No. 4 North Little Rock hosts fifth-ranked Conway, and Pulaski Academy, tied for sixth with Harrison, heads to Little Rock Christian.

The regular season in Missouri will be two-thirds complete after this week. Among area schools, West Plains entertains Springfield Parkview, Hollister travels to Reeds Spring, Forsyth is home against Pembroke Hill, Branson hosts Carthage, Ava makes the trip to Houston, Willow Springs heads to Salem, Missouri, Mountain View-Liberty travels to Mountain Grove and Thayer makes the trip to Cabool.
