The Twin Lakes Chapter No. 30 of Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary is organizing the 15th annual Veteran Outreach Picnic scheduled for Saturday from 11 until 2 on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. The picnic is open to all veterans, current military members and their families.

Local DAV Commander Dan Hall was a recent guest on KTLO-FM, and he says when they first started the picnic, it was at Hickory Park in downtown Mountain Home.

Hall says the event grew exponentially after the local DAV began its suicide prevention program for Baxter County at a grassroots level through different churches and veterans’ service organizations.

Hall says the DAV will be prepared to feed 700 people during the picnic. Tents will be set up near Gotaas Hall, and the building will be open for restrooms.

In addition to the food, entertainment will be provided by the Kattie Laney Project. The picnic will also include a resource fair, giveaways and awards.

In addition to the Good Samaritan Society, other major sponsors include the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, Lieutenant Colonel Mary Walker, ASC Warranty, NEXT powered by North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, Deborah and Thomas Knox, King Dermatology, ASU-Mountain Home and Golf Cart Specialists, Inc.
