A Mountain Home man was sentenced to 12 years in prison on drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Forty-one-year-old Walter Waylon Pittaway’s latest charges were filed in May. He was found in a room at the Executive Inn along with almost 40 grams of methamphetamine.

Mountain Home police were initially called to Casey’s General Store where a clerk had chased a suspected shoplifter out of the business and reported the woman ran toward the motel.

As the officers began checking the area, they came in contact with a female who retreated into a motel room when she spotted the patrol car.

When the MHPD officers knocked, the woman was reported to have opened the door only slightly, but enough for the officers to see a male running toward the back of the room. The woman identified the man as “Walter,” but said she did not know his last name, as they had only met a short time before.

When the officers questioned the man, he was determined to be Pittaway and admitted he had purchased the methamphetamine in the room for $600 in hopes of making some “quick cash.” He told the officers he was without a job, as was the female in the room.

Pittaway had also picked up drug charges in late February when county and city officers, along with members of the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, went to the home of his father located along County Road 27.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in Pittaway’s bedroom, as well as other rooms in the home. According to the probable cause affidavit in the earlier case, numerous controlled drug buys had been made from the home.
