MH runners shine in Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

Several of Mountain Home’s cross country runners were in Fayetteville Saturday for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at Agri Park, and two of the junior high boys’ team members ended up just short of a victory.

In the junior high boys’ 2-mile division, Ky Bickford led the Junior Bombers, as he finished second with a time of 10:17.4, three seconds behind the winner, Sam Boyer of Heritage. Bickford’s teammate, Hendrix Hughes, took third place at 10:28.7.

Whitney Wilber was Mountain Home’s top performer in the junior high girls’ 2-mile division, as she crossed the finish line in 15:09.9. Mackenzi Clark ended up with a time of 15:10.7.

In the high school girls’ El Caliente 5k, the Lady Bombers were led by Marcie Cudworth with a mark of 19:38.9. Rylee Patterson had the next best time at 21:54.9.

Whit Lawrence paced Mountain Home in the high school boys’ El Caliente 5k with a time of 16:22.1. Andrew Westphal had the next best performance for the Bombers at 16:49.2.

In the high school boys’ open 5k, Nathan Jenkins led Mountain Home, as he finished in a time of 20:21.9. Riley Rowden crossed the line in 20:37.9
