Crownover named Southern Region Officer of the Year

Another local Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officer is receiving recognition. According to the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), Corporal Lyndle Crownover has been selected as the Southern Region Officer of the Year for 2019.

Corporal Crownover is a 27-year law enforcement veteran, with 14 years as a wildlife officer. During his time with Game and Fish, he has arrested 128 suspects for boating under the influence for an average of just over nine arrests per year, and he has maintained a 100-percent conviction rate for BUI arrests. He works with other local wildlife officers, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies to plan law enforcement patrols on area lakes and rivers to place a high priority on BUI enforcement.

Corporal Crownover has also completed NASBLA boating accident investigation training. He has worked six boating accidents this year, including two fatalities.

In addition, Corporal Crownover is active in boater and youth education. He has played a role in establishing a boater education program in Baxter County and surrounding schools. Crownover also assists the Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary with boater education classes and workshops. In 2019, he has organized and assisted in 12 boater education classes, with a total reach of 480 students.

This was the sixth time Crownover was nominated for the award. The local wildlife officer also received the nomination for the district’s Officer of the Year award in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015.
