Mountain Home continues high school football season at Jacksonville

High school football dominates the Friday schedule, as Mountain Home will be back on the road. Conference play continues for the Bombers as they meet Jacksonville.

Mountain Home is currently 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in the 6A-East. The Bombers’ first home game of league play was last week when they fell to Pine Bluff. Jacksonville is 1-4 and 0-2. The Titans got beat up by Jonesboro last Friday.

Bombers head coach Bryan Mattox says it’s a huge game for both teams, as they fight for a spot in the post season.

Kickoff at Jan Crow Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins at 5:30 with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday.

Elsewhere in the 6A-East, Searcy travels to Marion, Jonesboro makes the trip to Pine Bluff, and Sylvan Hills heads to West Memphis.

Yellville-Summit will step outside of conference play as they return to the home turf. The Panthers will welcome Rector for their Turkey Trot game.

Yellville-Summit has a record of 0-5 on the year. The Panthers went to Searcy last week and fell to Harding Academy. Rector is 2-3 on the season. The Cougars were shut out at Salem a week ago.

The celebration of Yellville-Summit’s 50th season of high school football continues. The Panther teams of the 1980s will be honored.

Kickoff at Panther Field is set for 7 p.m.

In the 3A-2, Melbourne hosts Marshall, Mountain View travels to Searcy to face Harding Academy, Clinton makes the trip to Newark to take on Cedar Ridge, and Rose Bud steps out of league play as they head to Hackett.

Also on the local Arkansas schedule, Salem travels to Pleasant Plains to play Midland, and Harrison makes the trip to Vilonia. The Goblins are tied with Little Rock Christian for the top spot in Class 5A and for fifth in the state overall in the latest Arkansas Sports Media poll.

This marks the seventh week of the season in Missouri. Among area schools, West Plains heads to Waynesville, Hollister entertains Aurora, Forsyth travels to Stockton, Branson makes the trip to Nixa, Ava is home against Thayer, Willow Springs hosts Houston, Mountain View-Liberty heads to Cabool, and Mountain Grove travels to Salem, Missouri.
