2-car accident sends 6 to hospital, 5 of them children

A two-vehicle crash in Ozark County Monday afternoon sent six people to the hospital, five of them children. The driver of one the cars, 28-year-old Patricia Bartlett of Bakersfield, received what the Missouri State Highway Patrol termed “moderate” injuries. The five children who were all in Bartlett’s vehicle, ages 12, 9, 3, 2 and 1, were listed as having “minor” injuries. The children, whose names were not included in the report, are also from Bakersfield. All  were taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The report indicates the accident happened when a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Shelby Summers of Bakersfield crossed the centerline and struck the vehicle driven by Bartlett.

The accident happened on Missouri Highway EE, 4 miles west of Bakersfield at 3:25 Monday afternoon.
