Douglas Mason/WireImageGrateful Dead co-founder and bassist Phil Lesh was forced to postpone several shows following surgery on his back.  That, unfortunately, applies to his annual Phil-O-Ween shows.

The shows were set to take place on October 31 and the first two days of November. In Lesh’s place, the Darkstar Orchestra, a tribute band, will hold down the fort at New York’s Capitol Theater.

However, disappointed fans will be able to claim full refunds for their tickets or have them honored at Lesh’s rescheduled shows.

As of now, the new Phil-O-Ween dates have yet to be announced.

Lesh announced the postponement on Facebook, “I want you all to know I’m very disappointed I’m not going to be able to make these shows.”  He adds that he’s “feeling really good” but the doctors told him to sit things out to “recover from the surgery” he recently had.
