A change in dependent health insurance coverage for city employees will be considered when the Mountain Home City Council meets in regular session Thursday evening at 6.The proposed ordinance seeks to amend the definition of “dependent” in the city’s health and hospitalization plan.Specifically, beginning with the 2020 plan year, “dependent” would not include an employee’s spouse if he/she is offered healthcare coverage outside the city’s plan.Because open enrollment healthcare coverage is set for Nov. 1, if approved, the ordinance would become effective immediately, with passage of an emergency clause.
In other business, the council will consider continuation of the city’s 2 mil city tax for the upcoming year.
Five proposed resolutions are on the agenda, all concerning a grant application for housing rehabilitation for low and moderate income families. The Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District in Harrison is making the grant application.
The final item of business is an ordinance to change an area rezoned residential R-1 to commercial C-2.
The meeting will be held in the council chambers of the Municipal Building.
