Two area softball teams competed for district titles and a state tournament berth on Friday.
Dora fell just short in the championship game of the Class 1, District 1 Tournament at Van Buren. The top-seeded Lady Falcons were edged out by Norwood 2-1. Dora’s season comes to an end at 20-4.
Ava was able to capture the first place trophy of the Class 2, District 11 Tournament in front of its home crowd. The top-seeded Lady Bears squeaked by Mansfield 11-10. Ava improves to 17-8 on the season, and they’ll meet Sherwood Wednesday to begin the Class 2 State Tournament.
