An Ozark County woman has been arrested after she allegedly used a debit card belonging to a patient in the hospital whom she was helping fill out paperwork. Eighteen-year-old Cheyenne Wiggins of Tecumseh is facing eight felony charges in connection with the case.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, the victim told Mountain Home Police he was hospitalized at Baxter Regional Medical Center and needed assistance filling out insurance paperwork on Oct. 3, and Wiggins agreed to dictate for him for $60. The victim told police he did not have any cash, so he provided Wiggins with his debit card and authorized her to withdraw $100 from his account.

Later that night, the victim checked his bank account and discovered seven online purchases totaling $375 he did not authorize and a second cash withdrawal of $20.

Wiggins was interviewed by Mountain Home Police, during which a search of her phone confirmed she had used the victim’s debit card to make the purchases without his authorization.

In addition to the felony charges, Wiggins is facing a misdemeanor charge of theft of property.

A spokesman for BRMC told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news the hospital has never had an employee by that name.
