Mavis Staples, The Black Crowes' Chris Robinson to perform at New Orleans benefit show for Tulane U.

Courtesy of Tulane University/ UpperWest Music GroupGospel-soul legend Mavis Staples and founding Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson are among the artists who will perform at the 2019 Tipping Point, a benefit concert for Tulane University taking place November 1 at The Fillmore New Orleans.

The event celebrates the music of New Orleans while raising money to help fund scholarships, with the goal of attracting and supporting young leaders interested in attending the school.

The concert lineup also features Americana duo Larkin Poe, Anders Osborne, the late Levon Helm‘s daughter Amy and longtime former Late Show band guitarist Jimmy Vivino.

The event’s house band will include such popular New Orleans musicians as Cyril Neville, Ivan Neville and George Porter Jr. Comedian Jeff Garlin will emcee the festivities.

The third annual Tipping Point takes place during Tulane’s Wave ’19 Homecoming, Reunion and Family Weekend.
