Izard County authorities have made an arrest in connection with a shooting last week. The subject the Izard County Sheriff’s Office was searching for, 19-year-old Jonathan Christian Torres of Melbourne, was arrested over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, law enforcement received information which led them to a house in Mount Pleasant. Deputies from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Arkansas State Police went to the home about 11 Saturday night where they arrested Torres without incident.
The arrest of Torres follows a shooting incident last Thursday in Sage where a 17-year-old male was shot and taken to the hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Torres is charged with a felony count of battery in the first degree. He is being held in the Izard County Detention Center without bond pending his first court appearance, which is scheduled for Wednesday.
