A three-vehicle accident resulted injuries to three people Thursday afternoon near the Baxter County Rock Quarry. According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, 84-year-old Don Crapnell and 82-year-old Loretta Crapnell of Mountain Home and 41-year-old George Siddons of Melbourne were transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center.

A vehicle driven by 53-year-old Bonnie Sutterfield of Lakeview was traveling on County Road 69, less than a mile from Arkansas Highway 5 South, negotiating a curve near the quarry. Sutterfield’s vehicle crossed the centerline, sideswiped an oncoming SUV driven by Don Crapnell, crossed back across the northbound lane and came to rest on the shoulder.

The impact caused Don Crapnell’s SUV to turn sharply and collide with the left door of a pickup truck, driven by Siddons, traveling behind Sutterfield’s vehicle. The truck was pushed into the ditch. Loretta Crapnell was listed in the report as a passenger in the truck driven by Siddons.

Sutterfield was cited for careless or prohibited driving following the 1 p.m. accident.
