A Mountain Home man arrested in mid-March after being involved in a heated dispute over a vehicle entered a guilty plea to the charges against him during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Thirty-eight-year-old Chris Brim had been to a residence along County Road 419 twice to try and retrieve the pickup truck March 12. The vehicle was allegedly registered to Brim’s mother and her estranged husband who was then living in the house on CR 419.

The estranged husband and Brim’s mother were reported going through a divorce and were in a tug-of-war over the pickup truck.

At one point during the confrontation, Brim was told by his stepfather the issue of who should have possession of the truck was between him and his mother. Brim is alleged to have pulled out a handgun during the confrontation and demanded his stepfather give him the truck. The stepfather went into his residence supposedly to get the keys to the vehicle, but locked the door to the house, with Brim outside, and waited for deputies to arrive.

Before deputies got to the scene, Brim left in his vehicle. Deputies picked him up on Highway 62/412 East.

Brim was sentenced to six years probation. Fourteenth Judicial District Prosecutor David Ethredge told the court the arresting officer was in agreement with the sentence based on information developed during the investigation. Brim was sentenced under the first offenders act, meaning if he stays out of trouble during his probation period, he can apply to the courts to have his record sealed.
