A woman on a “dumpster diving” expedition in early July found herself in hot water when police located three plastic bags of methamphetamine hidden inside a megaphone in her vehicle.

She also found herself in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday where she entered a guilty plea to the drug charges against her and was put on probation for six years.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 53-year-old Brenda Files of Midway and a companion were “dumpster diving” behind businesses, when a Mountain Home Police officer spotted them while on routine patrol. When questioned about the megaphone found to have a hat stuffed in it, the two women initially told the officer they had found the item in a dumpster, did not remove the hat and had not seen the methamphetamine.

When the officer asked why all of the other items from the “dumpster diving” foray were in the bed of the truck the two females were driving, and only the megaphone and its hidden stash of drugs was in the cab, neither woman replied, according to court records.
