Shakey Pictures/AbramoramaJust a reminder that Mountaintop, the new documentary about the making of Neil Young‘s upcoming album with his old backing group Crazy Horse, Colorado, will be screened in over 100 North American theaters tonight, three days before the record’s release.

The movie features a behind-the-scenes look at the sessions for Colorado, which were held in a studio located high in the Rocky Mountains. The film captures Young working through the album’s 10 songs with his band mates — bassist Billy Talbot, drummer Ralph Molina and guitarist/keyboardist Nils Lofgren — and grappling with co-producer John Hanlon as he attempts to get the tracks sounding exactly the way he wants.

Mountaintop also features footage of Young performing some of the new material live in concert.

In related news, a specially designed Neil Young & Crazy Horse flannel shirt, featuring the band’s wild horse logo and the motto “Live Wild, Stay Free” embroidered on the back, will be sold at the screenings and at Young’s online store. One-hundred percent of the proceeds raised from the shirts will go toward helping America’s wild horses to remain safe and free.
